Allison Cara Tolman has been acting for more than 20 years. The actress has received nominations for Golden Globes and Emmys for her part in Fargo: Season 1, in the role of Molly Solverson. The early years of her life and schooling Tolman was the older of two brothers and a younger sister. When she was only a couple of months old, her family relocated to England and stayed there for about four years. Before moving to Sugar Land in Texas, she lived for five years in Oklahoma as well as West Texas. At the Fort Bend Community Theatre, she began taking acting lessons in the age of 10. Clements High School graduated her in 2000. Baylor University awarded her a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in theatre performance. After graduation, she lived in Dallas and was a founding member of Second Thought Theatre. Then, in Chicago, Illinois in 2009 she studied performance at The Second City Training Center. Her career in television began in which she played the protagonist of FX's black comedy-crime series Fargo. Fargo is a remake of 1996 Coen brother's film of the same name. Starring veteran actors Bob Odenkirk, Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton. Tolman was praised for her role as Minnesota the Police officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair wrote that Tolman "calmly took over" the show. Critics' Choice Television Award Best Supporting Actress in a Film/Miniseries. Tolman got an episode of guest-starring as romance novelist Abby Berman on The Mindy Show the following year. In 2015, her second character was on Michael Dougherty's film horror comedy Krampus. Tolman turned down several parts in the supporting roles like best friends, wives, and mothers following her breakout role in Fargo. The actress was searching for a role that was different. Tolman played a character on ABC in Downward Dog (based on Animal Media Group's web-series). The series was canceled after just one season. Tolman played a lead role in ABC's drama series Emergence which debuted on September 24, 2019. It was pulled on May 21, 2020, after only one season despite "pretty strong" numbers, as per Tolman. Her guest appearances in the NBC show NBC Good Girls were also mentioned as sources. In 2021, she appeared in the role of Alma Filcott in the second season of the drama show Why Women Kill, and was Natalie Green in The Facts of Life portion in the third episode of Live in Front of a Studio Audience.
